Almabtrieb
The Almabtrieb normally takes place at the end of September
when the cows and sheep are brought down from their mountain pastures
for the winter spell.
They are decorated with colourful head dresses made from flowers
and colourful streamers.
The farmers go up to the pastures the day before and prepare the
headdresses (while at the same time having a celebration with their
friends). The cows and sheep are then herded down the next day
by the farmers and their helping hands and parade through the middle
of the village on their way to their winter homes.
You will find farmers stalls in the middle of the village with
home made cheeses, sausages, bread and other produces, together
with traditional music and beer stalls to complete the celebrations.
A spectacular sight not to be missed !!!
