Hiking in Westendorf
Shoes
For longer walks a boot which covers the ankle is recommended. Leather should
be waterproofed and a profiled rubber sole is very important. New boots should
be 'broken in' before you go on longer hikes.
Shirt/Blouse
It is better to take two thinner pullovers with you instead of a thick one, as
you can keep yourself warmer with two layers. The pullover should cover the
hips.
Trousers
Breaches are preferable, the cut should be comfortable. You should take shorts
as a second pair of trousers with you on hot days.
Socks
Woollen socks tend to be the best. If wearing breaches socks should cover the
knees.
Anorak
The material should be breathable, while still keeping the rain out.
Hear Gear
As sun protection a foldable hat made of linen with a brim, or a head scarf are
ideal.
Rain Wear
A large cape which also covers your rucksack is very handy. They must be light
and easy to fold away.
Gloves
Most functional are gloves made of wool. Sunglasses 60%-80% light absorption.
Ruck Sack
Material . synthetics or strong canvas, with upholstery at the back. Large, upholstered
carrying straps important.
First Aid Kit
Plasters, tape, an adhesive, pain killing tablets, insect repellent. Minor Details
String, reserve shoelaces, safety pins, pencils, handkerchiefs, toilet paper,
pocket knife.

effect of the UV rays. High ray protective filter recommended.
